SmartInventory

SmartInventory is an inventory management system that allows companies to maintain a centralised record of every item in the control of the organization. SmartInventory provides a single source of truth for the location of every product, supplier information, specifications and total number of a particular item currently in stock.  It is an affordable and convenient solution for enterprises that may not need a complex and full-featured inventory or warehouse management system (WMS). Alternatively, SmartInventory can be deployed in smaller warehouses or branches to complement an existing WMS system deployed in the main warehouse.

SmartInventory Process Flow

Label Printing

Every item that comes in to the warehouse has to be properly identified with a QR barcode label printer, be it from production or external receiving. If require palette movement, palette label or license plate must be generated. As a industrial standard, all labels must be printed with labels according to the lowest UOM (Unit of Measure) during picking. If the product can be shipped out, every box has to be printed on. The design for palette label or license plate can be discussed at the later stage.

Receiving

Prior to receiving any ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) or PO, details should be in the inventory system. This information can either be keyed in by the customer into the RES inventory management system or integrated with the customer’s accounting system. Receiving process will start by scanning the product item or palette label and it is validated against the ASN or PO. For production output receiving, production order must be imported in advance in the inventory management system. Production order has to be included into the inventory management system or through an API (Application Program Interface) from your production system or ERP system.

Put Away

After the GRN process is done, they will be placed in a dedicated staging area to proceed to put away goods to the bin location. During this process, the items label (barcode) will have to be scanned and paired to the bin location’s barcode. The user  manages where the goods will be placed in accordance to the zoning which has been identified.

Picking

Upon receiving a DO or Sales Order, the inventory management system will generate the picking list bin location based on the information received (Picking Algorithm) from ERP or financial system or creation of picking list validated by back end user of inventory system. The picking list will have all the necessary information of the items including bin location number and quantity. The inventory management will list down all items to be picked and in which bin location. The user just needs to find the actual bin location and scan the goods barcode and retrieve quantity required. Proceed to the next item until all items have been picked up and confirmed in picking completion. Incomplete or variance of picking will require supervisor intervention.

Packing

The DO list received from ERP or financial system through API into RES inventory management system will have the information of goods to be shipped out. Thereafter the user will have to enter preliminary shipping information (if any). This verification process during the packing (if required) of the items will be scanned before any final packing label is generated. Packing label will print customer address, consignee and shipping instruction.

Stock Take

The process of counting all stocks using the inventory management mobile application installed on the mobile computer. The user needs to scan the unique barcode for each bin location and item label. The mobile application will then keep track of stock quantity on the mobile application. The user can retrieve the report from the inventory management mobile and web application.
